This weekend I'll be a part of Mythicworlds, a three-day Faerie-inspired celebration of myth, music, folklore and masquerade. Mythicworlds is the Seattle-area event established by the creators of Faerieworlds and FaerieCon, and I'm excited to be panelling at it for the first time. Studio Wondercabinet will be in the dealers room as well, located at table 04, with a focus on original faerie art and my new "Faeries, Fates and Furies" sketchbooks available.
I'll be participating in three panels this weekend, discussing fantasy art and process. I hope you're interested in the subjects because these things really need a lively, curious audience to be fun. My favorite panels at events are generally sparked by questions from the audience that trigger long, fascinating discussions, and I wind up learning as much as the rest of you. So come, and ask that question you've been wondering about!
Here's my official schedule this weekend...
3:00 – 3:45 Panel: Future of Fantasy Art: digital has become one of the
most viable way of publishing art—but what’s next? With platforms like
Patreon and Kickstarter making it easier for creators to secure funding,
how does this change the way art is made and the common perception of what
fantasy art even is? (Cascade 11)
12:00 – 12:45 Panel: Inspiration and Motivation: We all dream of making a
living doing what we love. How do you make your art profitable without
losing your inspiration? Several artists who have managed it talk about
choosing a direction that satisfies both needs (Cascade 12)
12:00 – 1:00 Panel: From Sketchbook to Final: The Creative Process from
Start to Finish – Every artist has their own path from the first idea to
the final, finished work. Learn their methods, secret and rituals – you
will be surprised by how it happens (Cascade 11)
I've also been invited to participate in evening Artist and Author Hang Out sessions in the Coffee Shop Lounge on Friday and Saturday evenings between 5-6 pm, but I can't make a firm commitment at this point. Hopefully I'll be able to update on this soon!
